Welcome to the Governing Body section of the website.
Our governors represent our wider school community: elected parent and staff governors, one Local Authority nominee and co-opted members from the wider community. They have a mix of skills, experiences and backgrounds to help provide the best possible support to the School. We are actively recruiting new members.
School governors have a responsibility for supporting the schools, while also holding them to account. At each school, Governors are actively involved in all aspects of school life and contribute time and energy to ensure the school continually improves. Governors share the school’s aims and values, and are keen to enhance the environment, provide the right resources and to see that every child receives the best possible education.
The purpose of the Governing Body is to help the school to provide the best possible education for its pupils. They work closely with the Executive Head Teacher and the Senior Leadership Teams to set the school’s strategic aims and policies and actively work to monitor, support and improve the quality of teaching and learning for all pupils. The role of the Governing Body is one of strategic oversight; governors are not involved in the day-to-day running of the school. That is the responsibility of the Head of School.
The full Federation Governing Body meets formally once a term.
Sub-committees also meet once or twice a term to focus on particular areas in more detail. The two main sub-committees are:
- Finance & Resources (F&R)
- Quality of Education (QoE).
Other committees, panels and project teams meet when needed. It is also important for Governors to see the school in action, and they make regular visits to classrooms, to speak with teachers and to join in school events and celebrations. Governors take very seriously the role they play and the contribution they can make. Governors are expected to sign up to a code of practice agreeing to act with honesty and integrity, to keep up to date with training and to respect confidentiality at all times.

Governing Body Responsibilities
A Governing Body’s responsibilities cover three key areas:
- To provide a strategic view
- focus on the future
- set appropriate objectives
- develop a strategic framework and policies to achieve these objectives
- To be a ‘critical friend’
- offer support and constructive advice
- be a sounding board for ideas
- ask challenging questions when necessary
- To ensure accountability of the school
- ensuring that the school delivers good quality education
- monitoring the school’s overall performance
- ensuring the school complies with its statutory and legal responsibilities

Sarah Knight
I’m delighted to have been elected as the Chair of Governors for of Green Shoots Partnership. I have a particular interest in helping the schools to continue to provide a high-quality curriculum as well as representing the parent body. My daughter joined Meadowside in September 2021 and I look forward to contributing to the pride she already takes in her school.
I am a full-time divisional director for the NHS and believe my experience in health care operations brings a fresh perspective to the challenges facing community schools. My family and I live in Burton Latimer which allows for greater opportunities to help strengthen the community with the parents and students of Meadowside and Great Doddington.
Janet Goodliffe
I was a Governor for over 20 years at a successful local Secondary school where I worked for almost 29 years; semi retiring in July 2017. I was on the Senior Leadership team and one of my roles was working with primary schools in the area to support the move from year 6 into year 7. I joined the Meadowside governors in April 2017 and I have loved getting to know the staff and lots of the pupils. Learning about everything the pupils do at Green Shoots Partnership has been fascinating, and we have a really strong team of teachers, senior leaders and support staff. A particular interest of mine is supporting young people to improve their mental health and I have been working with staff at school to support our young people in this ever changing and exciting world in which we live. I am delighted to be on the Governing Body of Green Shoots Partnership and hope that the experience I have had in secondary can assist the school in achieving the absolute best for our pupils.
Rani Singh
Hello my name is Rani Singh and I am greatly looking forward to being a part of Meadowside Primary School. I in Kettering and have done so since I was a very young child. I am married, have 3 grown up children and am also a grandmother of two. I retired as a Head Teacher just over two years ago, having worked in schools in varying capacities for over 40 years. My roles included being a Teaching Assistant, subject teacher in secondary school, Primary school Class Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher and Head Teacher. I was a Parent Governor at Montagu Secondary School which my sons attended and I was also a Teacher Governor for many years. I have always been passionate about children’s learning and enabling young people to get the best start in life through high quality education. As a school governor at Meadowside, I am committed to supporting the school in its work and I trust that my knowledge, skills and experience will put me in good stead to support the governors, staff and children. I am very excited about the prospect of being a member of the school community and hope to get to meet as many of you as possible in the future.
Michael Gooch
I believe Health and Safety should be about sensible risk management which is a benefit not a hindrance to the operation of the school.
My roles in business have included Health and Safety Manager for blue chip telecoms businesses. I currently run a team managing total facilities management solutions across the UK. Key to this is ensuring we manage legal compliance and provide a safe environment.
My passions include running and our family's dogs, Murphy, Mabel, Geoffrey and Daphne.
Michelle Tite
I have always wanted to be a teacher and make a difference in young people’s lives. From my two years of teacher training, I have learnt the importance of a stable, supportive, and enriching environment. Whilst I am now taking a break to raise my little girl, I can continue to be involved and support young people’s education. I am honoured to have been appointed a co-opted governor for Green Shoots Partnership and look forward to working with the governing body, staff, and children in the future. I believe my years working in education and business bring varying experiences, along with a strong work ethic to fully immerse myself in my role.
